Project Description

Sunset Beach Geraldton

(2019 – 2020)

O2 Marine was engaged by the Greater City of Geraldton to implement a Six month metocean monitoring program to improve the understanding of the metocean conditions contributing to beach profile change at Sunset Beach, and support the verification and calibration of hydrodynamic numerical models, the design of coastal adaption options and the refinement of coastal hazard predictions.

Instrument frames were deployed at two locations immediately offshore of Sunset beach in Geraldton  to collect metocean data including waves Tp, Hs and direction, and water column current U and V components. The data was used as part of the coastal erosion study implemented by the Great City of Geraldton in collaboration with the Department of Transport.
