| About the Project | O2 Metocean were engaged by 2H offshore to collect wave and current data offshore of Dampier along the North Western Shelf of Australia on behalf of Santos Pty Ltd. Data was collected to support offshore modelling operations for Santos on the North West Shelf, approximately 160 km offshore. To collect high-quality, real-time oceanographic data with instrument redundancy, O2 Metocean deployed two advanced instrument arrays • Long mooring array with a Datawell Directional Wave Rider buoy and a Nortek Continental ADCP in line-mounted in proximity to the seabed. • A short mooring array with a Nortek Signature 250 kHz AWAC mounted on the seabed a using automatic-release deepwater buoyancy frame Both stations were equipped with tandem-coupled Edgetech acoustic release units, ensuring safe recovery and reducing the risk of instrument loss during deployment and retrieval. The mooring system successfully withstood two tropical lows in the area, continuing to deliver uninterrupted real-time wave data via Iridium satellite for 255-days, demonstrating the robustness of our equipment and telemetry systems. Wave data derived by the long mooring was telemetered and provided to the 2H in quasi real time. All downloaded data was QA/QCd and was delivered in internationally recognised formats (NetCDF) , ensuring the ease for use in modelling and/or data analysis. |
