Project | OMSB Capital Dredge Project – Beadon Creek |
Client | Onslow Marine Support Base (OMSB) |
Date | June 2018 to Current |
About the Project | O2 Marine was engaged by OMSB to undertake an impact assessment and seek environmental approvals as per Section 38 (Part IV) of the Environmental Protection Act 1986 for the 1M M3 Stage 2 capital dredge project. O2 Marine conducted this work in accordance with contemporary EPA Technical Guidance.
To support the project referral, O2 Marine developed a DSDMP following EPA guidance and the latest WAMSI Advice. This management plan incorporated telemetered water quality monitoring at nine locations and Near-Real-Time (NRT) satellite imagery analysis services to ensure compliance with EPA conditions during dredging. Dredge management is now complete and the Deputy Chairman of the EPA commended the O2 Marine approach, stating: “The proponent incorporated contemporary and locally relevant dredging science from the Western Australian Marine Science Institution into its predictions and proposed management of the project’s impacts. This means we had a high level of confidence during the assessment.” After receiving project approvals, O2 Marine assisted OMSB to seek alterations to the original design, submitting a successful Section 45C application to amend the original dredge footprint. More recently, O2 Marine have been assisting OMSB through the Part V licence application to formally facilitate bulk trade of iron ore as a Prescribed Premises. O2 Marine has assisted OMSB through this process by advising and facilitating required technical studies and investigations and compiling all necessary data required for the formal licence application. |
